Food & beverage brand launch kit

Recipes don't scale — systems do. The compliance, costing, packaging and channel checklist for a food brand that lasts.

12 stepsOrdered by phase · personalized by your co-founder

1Legal first — food is regulated everywhere

  • Identify the food authority in your country (e.g. FDA/USDA, FSSAI, DRAP/Punjab Food Authority equivalents) and the license your product needs.
  • Check label rules: ingredients list, allergens, nutrition panel, net weight, manufacturer details.
  • Document your recipe and process — this becomes your quality baseline and your legal protection.

2Cost the plate honestly

  • Cost per unit = raw ingredients + packaging + labor + storage + delivery/commission.
  • Test shelf life and storage: a product that spoils in transit kills margins before marketing does.
  • Set a price that covers at least 60% gross margin — food businesses die on thin margins and returns.

3Pick your first channel

  • One channel first: own Instagram/WhatsApp orders, a delivery marketplace, retail shelves, or B2B supply — not all four.
  • If selling online, plan packaging that survives delivery (leak-proof, labeled, presentable).
  • If selling retail, prepare your sell-sheet: wholesale price, MOQ, delivery terms, and why a store should stock you.

4Taste-led launch

  • Give 50–100 samples to your exact target audience and collect feedback on taste, packaging and price.
  • Photograph the product properly — food sells on appetite appeal.
  • Turn repeat buyers into your first reviews and WhatsApp broadcast list.
